The Beating The Odds Literary Tour
The tour brings some of today’s most prolific African American authors to the communities that read their works. The Beating Da Odds authors have all overcome many of the same negative challenges facing our youth today. Because of their first hand experiences they bring a truth to young people which is inescapable. For these authors to share their stores of overcoming adversity and the challenges they faced to become who they are will leave an everlasting impact on the lives of young people.
As producers of the written word, "The Beating Da Odds Literary Tour" authors proposes to conduct a literacy tour that promotes reading, writing and the importance of education. It will also provide people with the information they can use to write and publish a book.
More than ever young people are being bombarded with negative influences. Through music, literature, and media, young people are overwhelmed when it comes to making positive decisions. We're dedicated to showing young people that there's more to life then, gangs, drugs, crime, prison or violence. We encourage positive decision making, non-violent conflict resolution, and the importance of education.
The “Beating the Odds” Literary Tour offers engaging, fascinating panel/workshops that are interactive and informative. Each presentation is tailored to meet the needs of the community. I am enclosing general information about the tour. Through a series of quality presentations, workshops and/or conferences which motivate and challenge young people, both academically and socially, the tour's mission is to provide the hope of realizing one's individual dreams, a desire for learning and living, and a sense of gratitude and respect for oneself, one's community as well as one's future.
In addition we are also available to facilitate “Beating the Odds” gang prevention, alternative to violence self-publishing, creative writing and marketing workshops as well. We would love to incorporate this unique approach to reaching our youth to your efforts of teaching, mentoring and nurturing today’s young people.
